The Art House
Supporting a collaboration between Venture Arts and The School of Art at the University of Worcester.

Venture Arts have been working with learning disabled and neurodivergent artists for over 30 years. Director Amanda Sutton leads Venture Arts through innovative studio programmes, cultural inclusion initiatives, international exhibitions and collaborative projects, aiming to remove barriers to the arts that our community faces. Looking outwards, building collaborations and partnerships for our studio artists are integral to our vision.

The Co Lab programme is led by our Curator / Creative Producer, Sarah Boulter, who initiates new projects by carefully identifying contemporary artists whose practices harmonise and communicate with specific artists we work with in the studio.

Experimentation and exploration are at the heart of our CoLab series and an agile and flexible way of working has meant that this year alone, 28 contemporary visual artists both from Venture Arts and beyond have been invited to join this radical approach to art making, free to research, test and play. We have generated ambitious and exciting contemporary visual art residencies and collaborations, locally and internationally, and artistic relationships have blossomed.

There is no forced outcome to these collaborations, simply to simultaneously expand mutual practices, inspire each other and have time to explore new ways of working. This year alone we have instigated: Poetry happenings/ Polish contemporary dance/ football trophies/ massive light projections in German nightclubs/ reggae playlists/ love numerology and monuments to seaside glory.
